Week1 B: Social Media Use Today

Social media is something that has grown exponentially in the last decade. People use in their everyday lives more than ever. It is used to connect with people by using technology. Apps like Instagram, Indeed, Bumble, or Facebook are all different ways people can connect and for different reasons.

Some are for business like Indeed or LinkedIn where you can post your resume and connect with people who are hiring. Or apps like Yelp where people review other businesses. Some platforms have business features like Bumble has a business "dating" feature or Facebook has it's marketplace where users are able to buy and sell items all throughout the app.

Other apps are primarily for social use. TikTok or Instagram are used to post pictures or videos to show other users a look into their life. The range of videos on TikTok is huge. What was once known as the dancing app, now has millions of videos about singing, how-to's, review videos, acting, art, teaching, advice, and so much more. How much someone can fit into a 60 second video has changed a lot of other people's lives.

As I dived more and more into social media, it showed me how much I want to work in it. Whether that would be promoting a business or promoting myself, I spend a lot of time of social media. I think it plays a huge role in my life and will continue to grow and adapt as life goes on.

  1. I love the point of how a 60 second video can change your lives dramatically. From not knowing how to do something, to knowing within seconds. I think they have actually been used to help expose you to little businesses you'd probably would of never known about!
    I really liked your entry!
